Driven by Yarmouk University's commitment to supporting its students and graduates and providing them with training and employment opportunities, the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels organized a Career Day. The event was held under the patronage of the University President, Professor Malek Al-Sharairi, and was attended by representatives from various tourism and hospitality institutions and companies, as well as faculty, administrative staff, students, and alumni.
Al-Sharairi emphasized that this Career Day embodies the university's firm commitment to strengthening partnerships with various sectors of the labor market and preparing students to confidently and competently transition from academia to the workforce. He commended the tourism and hospitality sector for its direct engagement with the faculty's graduates and for offering them training and employment opportunities.
He explained that the university places great importance on ensuring graduates have access to suitable employment opportunities and aligning educational outcomes with labor market needs. This is achieved through developing academic and training programs and enhancing applied education. He noted that the Career Day serves as a platform that brings together students and employers for direct dialogue about the opportunities, challenges, and skills required in this vital sector.
Al-Sharairi pointed out that the rapid advancements in technology, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and smart tourism place a responsibility on higher education institutions to prepare a competitive workforce. He emphasized the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels' commitment to continuously developing its programs and expanding cooperation with various tourism and hospitality entities, as well as travel and aviation companies.
He urged students and graduates to seize this event as a genuine opportunity to build their careers and acquire essential skills such as initiative, teamwork, and problem-solving. He also expressed his gratitude to the tourism and hospitality organizations participating in the exhibition.
For his part, the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Saad Al-Saad, noted that university education only achieves its full potential when knowledge, skills, and expertise translate into real opportunities for employment, achievement, and community service. He explained that the participation of tourism and hospitality sector institutions reflects a strategic partnership that the faculty values, linking education to the needs of the labor market and its evolving requirements, particularly in light of the digital and technological transformations underway in the tourism and hospitality industry.
He emphasized that the faculty is working diligently to develop its educational and training programs and practices to align with the job market, believing that practical experience is just as important as theoretical knowledge. He expressed the faculty's ongoing readiness to listen to the needs of the tourism sector to ensure the preparation of graduates who possess the skills demanded by the job market.
In the same vein, Prof. Dr. Akram Al-Rawashdeh, Head of the Career Day Preparatory Committee, confirmed that organizing this event stemmed from the direct request and interest of companies and institutions within the tourism and hospitality sector itself. These companies expressed their keen interest in participating and recruiting faculty graduates, given their distinguished academic reputation, high level of practical skills, and strong readiness to compete in the job market.
He added that this Career Day presents an opportunity to launch promising career paths and sustainable partnerships that extend beyond individual employment to include the development of academic curricula and programs, and the exchange of expertise.
The Career Day witnessed wide participation from students and graduates who flocked to the booths of participating in tourism and hospitality companies and institutions, as well as recruitment agencies. They were given the opportunity to submit their resumes, as well as to learn more about the nature of the available jobs, field training opportunities, and the skills required to enter the labor market.
