Training Activities for Faculty Members on International Programs in Tourism and Hotel Education (OPERA)
As part of a series of training activities aimed at faculty members and students in tourism and hotel education during the semester break, the Tourism and Hotel College completed its first training program on the cloud-based hotel reservation system OPERA. The program lasted five days, with three hours of training daily via Zoom. This step precedes the installation of the system on the college's computer lab before the start of the second semester of the 2023-2024 academic year, preparing students to be trained on the system as part of the hotel management department's curriculum.
This initiative is a first in the field of tourism and hotel education in Arab universities, allowing students to train on this system before hotels and hotel chains install it in their establishments. This will enable college graduates to gain pioneering practical experience due to the rapid technological advancements in the tourism and hotel sector.
The Yarmouk University administration, known for its pioneering and enlightened approach to global developments in student education and training across various scientific disciplines, welcomed this step and approved the installation of this program on the college's computer lab. This initiative is unprecedented among major tourism colleges in Jordan, the Arab world, and even some global universities. This decision followed a meeting between Yarmouk University President Islam Al-Masad and Mr. Rami Madanat, Marketing Director at the Jordanian Data Systems Company.
