“Museums and their Role in Tourism Development” in Oman
Dr. Sawsan Khrais from the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels participates in the international conference “Museums and their Role in Tourism Development” in Oman
Dr. Sawsan Haider Khrais from the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels at Yarmouk University participated in the international conference “Museums and their Role in Tourism Development” in Oman after her research entitled “Cultural Gateways: The Role of Museums in Shaping Tourism Culture and Community Engagement) The conference was attended by His Excellency the Omani Minister of Tourism and the participation of a group of academics, experts and researchers from different countries of the world, in which more than 42 researchers, academics and experts from 21 countries participated. The three-day event discussed the roles of museums in economic, social and cultural development, as well as education, digital technologies and governance.
It is worth noting that the research discussed how museums can be windows for cultural dialogue and enhance the tourist's understanding of tourism as a cognitive and societal act. Dr. Sawsan Khrais also moderated a panel discussion titled “Economy and Museum Tourism”, where a set of papers were presented that addressed issues related to cultural governance, quality of museum services, and institutional integration in supporting sustainable tourism
