Memorandum of Understanding between Yarmouk University and Ma’in Hot Springs Resort for the Training and Employment of Tourism Students

Yarmouk University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ma’in Hot Springs Resort in Jordan to provide training and employment opportunities for students of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels. The MoU was signed by Dr. Islam Massad, President of Yarmouk University, and Mr. Nidal Abu Ali, General Manager of the Resort.

The agreement aims to train, qualify, and employ students from the Department of Hotel Management at Ma’in Hot Springs Resort across various departments during each academic year. This initiative is intended to complement the theoretical and academic knowledge students acquire in the field of tourism and hospitality with practical, hands-on experience.

Under the MoU, the resort will provide trainees who successfully complete their training with a certificate of experience covering all relevant job skills related to the department in which they trained.

The agreement also stipulates that the university will provide the resort with the names of the trainees, each of whom must have successfully completed at least 93 credit hours and all required theoretical courses prior to beginning their training.

During the signing, Dr. Massad emphasized that the university, as part of its strategic plan, is committed to building bridges of cooperation and strengthening partnerships with both public and private sectors. This serves to benefit students by providing training and development opportunities aligned with labor market demands, enabling them to gain practical experience, enhance their professional skills, and deepen their academic and applied knowledge.

He also noted that the university is working on offering academic course packages in several global foreign languages—particularly for tourism and hotel management majors—to enhance students’ language skills and improve their chances of securing suitable job opportunities.

In turn, Mr. Abu Ali praised Yarmouk University for its significant contributions to the tourism sector by graduating well-qualified students ready to enter the workforce. He also commended the university’s expertise in tourism-related scientific research and its role in supporting the development of the tourism industry.

The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Akram Rawashdeh, Dean of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, along with several faculty and administrative staff members.
