Yarmouk University Celebrates Graduation of Students and Staff with International and Local Tourism and Hospitality Certifications
The President of Yarmouk University, Dr. Islam Massad, sponsored a ceremony at the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels to honor a group of students, faculty, and administrative staff who earned prestigious local and international certifications in the fields of tourism and hospitality.
Dr. Massad emphasized the vital role that tourism and hospitality specializations play in both professional and practical life, underscoring the importance of equipping students with the necessary knowledge and skills to enter and compete effectively in the job market. He praised the efforts of the students and faculty in obtaining these specialized certifications, and commended the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels for its growing academic and professional reputation both locally and internationally.
Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Akram Rawashdeh, highlighted the contributions of the academic and administrative staff in providing students with essential skills and knowledge, which significantly contributed to their success in obtaining these certifications. He noted that approximately 25% of the faculty’s students are already employed in the tourism and hospitality sector while still pursuing their studies, reflecting the high level of competency and practical expertise they possess.
Among the notable achievements celebrated were students receiving the globally recognized Amadeus Certification in airline reservations, issued by Amadeus Jordan, and others receiving the Galileo Certification in airline booking systems from Royal Jordanian Airlines after successfully passing the required exam.
Additionally, a number of students received certificates from Shenandoah University (USA) and the U.S. Embassy in Amman as part of a global virtual student exchange program.
The celebration also honored faculty members from the Department of Hotel Management who completed professional training on the OPERA Cloud system—a leading hotel reservation platform—offered by Oracle. Moreover, faculty, administrative staff, and students from the Department of Tourism and Travel were recognized for their efforts in securing the UNWTO.TedQual Certification for excellence in tourism education for the third consecutive cycle (2024–2027), awarded by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
