An Upcoming Partnership Between the Hotel Management Department and the U.S. Meat Export Federation

The Hotel Management Department at the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels held an online meeting via Microsoft Teams with Ms. Lina Kanaan, Regional Director of the U.S. Meat Export Federation in the Middle East. The meeting was attended by the Head of the Hotel Management Department, Dr. Omar Taha; the Assistant Dean for Training and Agreements, Mr. Furat Mhaysen; Chef Khaled Rifai; and a representative of the Jordan Chefs Association, Ms. Abeer Al-Hneiti.
The meeting began with appreciation for the Jordan Chefs Association for its pivotal role as a connecting link and mediator in building bridges of cooperation between the university and the U.S. Meat Export Federation. The association contributed to coordinating communication and organizing this meeting in a way that supports the development of the educational and training process for hotel management students.
During the meeting, Ms. Kanaan presented an overview of the federation’s nature of work, activities, and objectives, as well as its direct connection with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). She explained that the federation’s tasks include training, awareness, and educational activities, in addition to developing professional skills related to meat quality, safety, and preparation methods according to the latest international standards.
The meeting resulted in an agreement to arrange a field visit by Ms. Lina Kanaan to Jordan on May 13, to visit the faculty and pave the way for signing cooperation agreements, as well as to implement fully funded training courses for department students focusing on American meat and professional preparation techniques.
It was also agreed to work in the future on involving students in specialized local and international competitions, in coordination with the Jordan Chefs Association, contributing to refining their practical skills and enhancing their presence in professional forums.
This meeting comes as part of the faculty’s efforts to expand its network of international partnerships and benefit from the role of intermediary professional organizations, contributing to improving educational outcomes and aligning them with labor market requirements in the tourism and hospitality sectors.
