Department of Travel and Tourism Concludes Discussions for Field Training

The Department of Travel and Tourism at the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, Yarmouk University, concluded this week the periodic discussions for field training students. The discussions continued for one full week and aimed to follow up on the students’ practical training experience, assess the extent of their benefit from field training, and identify the skills and professional knowledge they acquired at different training sites.

During the discussions, students presented their training experiences and reflections on the nature of field training and its connection with the theoretical knowledge they had gained during their university studies. Attention was also given to the practical skills acquired by students in several areas, particularly training on electronic reservation systems used in the tourism and travel sector, including Sabre, Galileo, and Amadeus. The discussions also covered students’ training in different tourism establishments, where they had direct interaction with tourists in real working environments.

The discussions further addressed students’ training in travel and tourism agencies, including the work of inbound, outbound, and domestic tourism offices, in addition to Hajj and Umrah services and the Urduna Jannah programme. This variety of training experiences helped students gain a clearer understanding of the nature of tourism work and its practical requirements.

The department emphasized that these discussions come as part of its commitment to strengthening the applied dimension of the educational process, linking students with the tourism labor market, and assessing their readiness to acquire the professional skills needed to work in the travel and tourism sector after graduation.

It is worth mentioning that the committee supervising the field training of students in the Department of Travel and Tourism consists of Dr. Mohammad Abuhjeeleh and the Field Training Supervisor, Mr. Mohammad Jba’ateh.
