Driven by Yarmouk University's commitment to supporting its students and graduates and providing them with training and employment opportunities, the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels organized a Career Day. The event was held under the patronage of the University President, Professor Malek Al-Sharairi, and was attended by representatives from various tourism and hospitality institutions and companies, as well as faculty, administrative staff, students, and alumni.
Al-Sharairi emphasized that this Career Day embodies the university's firm commitment to strengthening partnerships with various sectors of the labor market and preparing students to confidently and competently transition from academia to the workforce. He commended the tourism and hospitality sector for its direct engagement with the faculty's graduates and for offering them training and employment opportunities.
He explained that the university places great importance on ensuring graduates have access to suitable employment opportunities and aligning educational outcomes with labor market needs. This is achieved through developing academic and training programs and enhancing applied education. He noted that the Career Day serves as a platform that brings together students and employers for direct dialogue about the opportunities, challenges, and skills required in this vital sector.
Al-Sharairi pointed out that the rapid advancements in technology, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and smart tourism place a responsibility on higher education institutions to prepare a competitive workforce. He emphasized the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels' commitment to continuously developing its programs and expanding cooperation with various tourism and hospitality entities, as well as travel and aviation companies.
He urged students and graduates to seize this event as a genuine opportunity to build their careers and acquire essential skills such as initiative, teamwork, and problem-solving. He also expressed his gratitude to the tourism and hospitality organizations participating in the exhibition.
For his part, the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Saad Al-Saad, noted that university education only achieves its full potential when knowledge, skills, and expertise translate into real opportunities for employment, achievement, and community service. He explained that the participation of tourism and hospitality sector institutions reflects a strategic partnership that the faculty values, linking education to the needs of the labor market and its evolving requirements, particularly in light of the digital and technological transformations underway in the tourism and hospitality industry.
He emphasized that the faculty is working diligently to develop its educational and training programs and practices to align with the job market, believing that practical experience is just as important as theoretical knowledge. He expressed the faculty's ongoing readiness to listen to the needs of the tourism sector to ensure the preparation of graduates who possess the skills demanded by the job market.
In the same vein, Prof. Dr. Akram Al-Rawashdeh, Head of the Career Day Preparatory Committee, confirmed that organizing this event stemmed from the direct request and interest of companies and institutions within the tourism and hospitality sector itself. These companies expressed their keen interest in participating and recruiting faculty graduates, given their distinguished academic reputation, high level of practical skills, and strong readiness to compete in the job market.
He added that this Career Day presents an opportunity to launch promising career paths and sustainable partnerships that extend beyond individual employment to include the development of academic curricula and programs, and the exchange of expertise.
The Career Day witnessed wide participation from students and graduates who flocked to the booths of participating in tourism and hospitality companies and institutions, as well as recruitment agencies. They were given the opportunity to submit their resumes, as well as to learn more about the nature of the available jobs, field training opportunities, and the skills required to enter the labor market.






The Department of Hotel Management participated in the U.S. Beef Carving & Live Grilling Dinner, organized by the U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF) in cooperation with relevant stakeholders in the hospitality sector, in celebration of the sixth edition of the Young Chefs Challenge 2026.
Representing Yarmouk University at the event were Professor Dr. Hakam Shatnawi and Dr. Omar Taha, Head of the Department of Hotel Management. The participation reflects the Department’s commitment to strengthening its presence and engagement with specialized professional and academic institutions in the hospitality and culinary arts sectors.
The event witnessed notable attendance and engagement, providing participants with an opportunity to explore specialized experiences and practices in meat preparation and culinary arts. It also provided a valuable platform for networking, exchanging expertise, and meeting faculty members and professionals from other universities and institutions.
The importance of continuing to participate in such events lies in the opportunities they provide for academic and professional networking and for building new collaborative relationships. Such partnerships can positively benefit the Department’s students by creating specialized training and educational opportunities.
In this context, the Department of Hotel Management looks forward to participating in the next edition of the event. The Department is also planning to organize a specialized training course for its students in November, which will contribute to enriching their practical experience and developing their skills in meat preparation and culinary arts, while strengthening their connection with professional practices in the hospitality sector.

The Travel and Tourism Department at the Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management, Yarmouk University, conducted a field visit to Dania Baibars Company for Events and Celebrations Management to follow up on students enrolled in the Field Training in Tourism Establishments course during the summer semester and to assess the practical experience they were gaining in event and celebration management.
The visit formed part of the Faculty’s efforts to connect academic knowledge with practical application and introduce students to professional working environments in the events sector. It also provided an opportunity to follow up on the students’ participation in assigned tasks and assess their ability to adapt to the operational and organizational requirements of event management.
During the visit, the students’ activities and responsibilities were reviewed, along with the practical skills they had developed during their training. They were also introduced to several aspects of event management, including planning, organization and coordination, communication with clients and service providers, event preparation, and the implementation of various activities and celebrations.
The students also shared their observations about the training experience and the skills they had gained. They received guidance aimed at developing their communication, teamwork, time management, responsibility, and professional conduct. The visit highlighted the importance of practical training in helping students understand the nature of work in the events sector and apply their academic knowledge and skills in real working situations.

As part of Yarmouk University’s preparations for upcoming field visits aimed at enhancing the faculties’ readiness for international academic accreditation and strengthening the University’s standing in global rankings, the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, in cooperation with the Faculty of Archaeology and Anthropology, hosted a preparatory meeting at the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels Auditorium. The meeting was attended by Prof. Ruba Bataineh, Vice President of Yarmouk University for Scientific Research, International Accreditations, and Rankings.
The meeting was held as part of a series of meetings organized by the University to assess the current status of its faculties, review their key achievements, and identify opportunities for development and improvement. These efforts aim to develop actionable plans that enhance the faculties’ readiness to meet international accreditation requirements and global ranking indicators.
The meeting was attended by a number of vice deans, assistant deans, heads of academic departments, faculty members, and administrative staff from both faculties. It also featured presentations highlighting the current status, major achievements, and future development plans of the two faculties.
Prof. Saad Al-Saad, Dean of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, delivered a presentation highlighting the faculty’s major achievements and academic programs, as well as its initiatives in quality assurance, international accreditation, and scientific research. He also addressed the faculty’s local and international partnerships, future development plans, and key challenges and opportunities, emphasizing efforts to further enhance its competitiveness and the quality and distinction of its academic programs.
Dr. Mahmoud Al-Naamneh, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Archaeology and Anthropology, also delivered a presentation reviewing the faculty’s current status and its key academic and research achievements. He highlighted its efforts in academic accreditation and program development, as well as the challenges and future opportunities associated with enhancing the faculty’s performance and competitiveness.
For her part, Prof. Ruba Bataineh, Vice President of Yarmouk University for Scientific Research, International Accreditations, and Rankings, emphasized the importance of integrating efforts across the University’s various faculties and academic and administrative units and fostering a spirit of teamwork. She noted that such collaboration contributes to strengthening Yarmouk University’s competitiveness, enhancing the quality of its academic and research outcomes, and achieving its objectives in international accreditation and global rankings.
The meeting concluded with an extensive discussion among the participants, during which a number of proposals, ideas, and recommendations were presented to support the University’s development efforts and enhance the faculty’s readiness for the upcoming field visits. These efforts are aligned with Yarmouk University’s vision and strategic directions toward institutional excellence and the advancement of education, scientific research, and community service.

They were also introduced to the role of the Irbid Tourism Directorate in monitoring tourism activities and establishments, coordinating with relevant stakeholders, and supporting tourism development in Irbid Governorate.

The Faculty of Tourism and Hotels at Yarmouk University, in cooperation with the Jordanian National Tourism Marketing Company/Amadeus, conducted a certified examination based on the Global Distribution System (Amadeus). The exam targeted students enrolled in the Airline Reservation Systems course, as well as a number of faculty graduates who had completed the free training program organized by the faculty on the same system. The examination was held in the laboratories of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels.
This examination was organized as part of the faculty’s commitment to strengthening practical and applied learning, and to enabling students and graduates to acquire the professional skills necessary for using globally recognized reservation systems employed by airlines and travel and tourism agencies, thereby enhancing their readiness to enter the labor market.
The training program was supervised and delivered by Mr. Zahir Khasawneh from the Department of Tourism and Travel, who also teaches the Airline Reservation Systems course. The program focused on equipping participants with the practical skills required to use the Global Distribution System (Amadeus), as well as handling procedures related to booking and issuing airline tickets in accordance with the standards adopted in the aviation and tourism sectors.
The examination witnessed strong participation from both students and graduates, whose practical skills in using the system were evaluated. Participants who successfully passed the exam were awarded a certified certificate from Amadeus, which enhances their employment opportunities with airlines and travel and tourism agencies.
Professor Dr. Saad Al-Saad, Dean of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, emphasized that organizing such training programs and certified examinations reflects the faculty’s commitment to developing students’ and graduates’ skills and aligning academic outcomes with labor market needs through effective partnerships with leading institutions in the tourism and aviation sectors.
For their part, representatives of the Jordanian National Tourism Marketing Company/Amadeus, Mr. Jamal ElKhader and Mr. Khalid Mahafzah, expressed their pride in the ongoing collaboration with the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels. They affirmed that organizing training courses and certified examinations contributes to preparing qualified professionals equipped with the technical skills necessary to keep pace with developments in the tourism and aviation sectors. They also delivered a presentation to students on the latest developments in the Global Distribution System (Amadeus), highlighting key updates and new services being developed by the company, in addition to providing professional guidance and insights that enhance students’ and graduates’ readiness to enter the labor market.


Final Discussions for Field Training Students Conclude at Yarmouk University’s Travel and Tourism Department

The Department of Travel and Tourism at the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels has concluded the final discussions for field training students, following nearly four months of practical training in travel and tourism agencies, electronic reservation systems, and various tourism establishments.
The discussions, which continued for approximately ten days, aimed primarily to assess the academic and practical skills and knowledge students had acquired during their training period. They also sought to evaluate the extent to which students benefited from real workplace environments and their ability to connect the theoretical knowledge gained during their university studies with practical applications in the travel and tourism sector.
During the discussions, students presented their field training experiences across different training sites. The committee listened to their reflections on the nature of the tasks they performed, the challenges they encountered, and the development of their professional and personal skills throughout the training period. Particular attention was given to evaluating the applied skills students gained in the operations of travel and tourism agencies, including inbound tourism, outbound tourism, domestic tourism, Hajj and Umrah programmes, and the “Urduna Jannah” programme.
The discussions also assessed students’ proficiency in electronic reservation skills through systems commonly used in the travel and tourism sector, including Amadeus, Sabre, and Galileo. In addition, the committee evaluated the skills students developed through direct interaction with tourists in different tourism establishments, particularly in communication, customer service, problem solving, and professional conduct in real work settings.
The department emphasized that these final discussions form an essential part of the field training evaluation process. They are not limited to reviewing students’ training experiences; rather, they aim to measure students’ professional readiness and the extent to which they possess the skills required entering the tourism labor market after graduation. The discussions also reflect the department’s commitment to strengthening the practical dimension of the educational process and developing learning outcomes in line with the needs of the travel and tourism sector.
It is worth noting that the committee supervising the field training of Travel and Tourism students consists of Dr. Mohammad Abuhjeeleh and Field Training Supervisor Mr. Mohammad Jba’ateh.


Hospitality Management Students at Yarmouk University Present Their Internship Outcomes in Hotels and Restaurants

These sessions were held as part of the department’s efforts to monitor practical training outcomes and strengthen students’ connection with the labor market.
During the discussions, students presented their internship experiences, which were carried out in several five-star hotels and restaurants in Amman and Aqaba. They delivered presentations highlighting the skills, knowledge, and practical experience they gained during their training period, as well as the major challenges they encountered and the methods they used to address them in real hospitality work environments.
The students explained the positive impact of field training on the development of their professional competencies in guest services, hotel operations management, food and beverage services, effective communication, and teamwork within multidisciplinary environments. They also emphasized how the training enhanced their problem-solving and decision-making abilities in various operational situations.
Faculty members stressed the importance of field training as one of the fundamental pillars in preparing qualified professionals for the hospitality industry. They commended the quality of the students’ presentations, which reflected professional maturity and a deep understanding of the nature of work in leading hospitality establishments.
The department places great emphasis on practical training as a vital link between academic knowledge and professional practice. It also highlighted that its partnerships with distinguished hospitality institutions provide students with high-quality training opportunities and enhance their readiness to enter the labor market upon graduation.

Faculty of Tourism and Hotels at Yarmouk University Launches the Fourth Issue of Its Scientific and Media Magazine

The Faculty of Tourism and Hotels at Yarmouk University has announced the launch of the fourth issue of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels Magazine, in a new edition that reflects the ongoing academic, scientific, and media activity within the faculty, and reaffirms its commitment to strengthening its intellectual presence and enhancing its role in serving the tourism and hospitality sectors at both the local and regional levels. This issue was prepared by the Faculty Magazine Club team under the supervision of Prof.Hakam Salem Shatnawi, and featured a diverse range of content highlighting the faculty’s most notable achievements and its academic, scientific, and community activities, in addition to showcasing student initiatives, success stories, and the research outcomes of graduate students.
In his opening remarks for the issue, the Dean of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, Prof. Saad Al-Saad, emphasized that the tourism and hospitality sector is undergoing rapid transformations that require academic institutions to keep pace with global developments and continuously modernize their educational approaches. He noted that the faculty continues to fulfill its mission by providing modern education that meets labor market demands and prepares qualified professionals equipped with innovation and adaptability skills to face technological, economic, and environmental changes. Prof.Al-Saad further explained that the faculty is continuously working to develop its study plans and strengthen practical and digital education, with a focus on sustainability concepts, artificial intelligence, and the development of modern professional skills, in addition to expanding partnerships with both the public and private sectors to prepare graduates capable of leading the tourism sector with competence and professionalism.
For his part, the Editor-in-Chief of the magazine, Prof. Hakam Salem Shatnawi, expressed his pride in publishing the fourth issue, affirming that the magazine has become an important academic and media platform that highlights the faculty’s efforts and achievements, while shedding light on the growing importance of the tourism and hospitality sector as one of the key drivers of sustainable development. Prof. Shatnawi pointed out that the magazine aims to provide scientific and media content that reflects the faculty’s development and the diversity of its activities, while emphasizing the active role played by faculty members, administrative staff, and students in supporting the journey of excellence and creativity within the faculty.
The fourth issue included a collection of scientific and informative articles prepared by faculty and administrative members, in addition to presentations of the most prominent master’s theses discussed during the academic semester, as well as comprehensive coverage of the faculty’s activities and events, particularly training and field programs that represent a fundamental pillar in preparing students and linking academic knowledge with practical application. The issue also placed special emphasis on highlighting the efforts and active participation of the faculty’s students, in appreciation of their significant role in preparing and producing the magazine in such a distinguished manner, reflecting the spirit of teamwork and the faculty’s commitment to empowering students and involving them in various media, cultural, and academic activities.
