On behalf of the President of Yarmouk University, Prof. Dr. Atef Al-Shiyab signed, on Wednesday 03-22-2023, the cooperation and joint training agreement with the Abu Riyadh Restaurants Company, which is a major partner of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management at Yarmouk University. The agreement was signed in the presence of a large number of specialists and senior management staff in Abu Riyadh Restaurants and the academic and administrative staff at Yarmouk University.
The representative of the university president welcomed the honorable guests, pointing out that Yarmouk University is always striving to build solid business partnerships with distinguished institutions as part of its strategy to cooperate with the people of local communities and to serve the goals of the university and the Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management.
During the signing ceremony, a meeting took place between the two parties, which focused on introducing the College of Tourism and Hotels with all its academic programs, which offer several specializations at thebachelor’s and master’s levels; the focus was on the Hotel Management Department. The prospects for cooperation and training of students were discussed with the aim of employing them in this important tourist establishment in Irbid governorate. This agreement comes with the aim of strengthening cooperation relations in the fields of training students of the Hotel Management Department at the College of Tourism and Hotel Management.
The representative of the University President, Prof. Dr. Atef Al-Shiyab, expressed his great interest in building business partnerships with all parties, which is a pillar of work for Yarmouk University, focusing at the same time on the pivotal role of Yarmouk University's partners in promoting concepts of joint-cooperation and continuous support.
Dr. Al-Shayyab also spoke about the importance of studying hotel and tourism management specializations and also noted the importance of signing such agreements in enhancing students' skills and creating sustainable job opportunities in order to support the tourism and hotel sector in the Kingdom and the region, where the demand for trained and qualified hands increases day after day.
The General Manager of Abu Riyadh Restaurants, Mr. Rami Al-Taani, explained the role played by his institution in serving business partners in the tourism sector and creating job opportunities for the people of the region. Abu Riyadh Restaurants are considered one of the leading restaurants in the northern region; and the major partner that conducts training for the tourism and hospitality faculty students: Abu Rami stressed and acknowledged the college staff for their fruitful efforts as well.
The agreement concluded between the two parties, with the aim of encouraging and supporting national employment and contributing to building the students’ professional future, provided a symbolic amount of money to the trainee students for each month, in addition to providing a meal for the trainees in the employees’ cafeteria during the training period. In addition, and in order to provide students with the required skills, Abu Riyadh Restaurants Company is committed to training students in all departments of the restaurant in order to consolidate the necessary knowledge and skills.
It is noteworthy that the hotel management majors are among the majors that Jordan needs greatly due to the presence of a large number of restaurants and hotels throughout the Kingdom, as these investments play a prominent role in the sustainable development of the Kingdom and the creation of promising job opportunities for Jordanian students who graduate from these majors
