The Faculty of Tourism and Hotels Organizes a Meeting for its Students with their Fellow Graduates
The Faculty of Tourism and Hotels at Yarmouk University organized an interactive meeting in which a number of graduates of the college who held leading positions in the tourism sector and hotels inside and outside Jordan participated, in addition to students of various departments who are pursuing their degrees.
During the meeting, the Dean of the College, Dr. Akram Al-Rawashdeh said that the organization of this meeting was due to the college's belief in the need for permanent communication with its graduates, and to provide a mean of communication between graduates of the college and students, pointing out that this meeting would enhance the belonging of graduates to their mother university "Yarmouk" and their college from which they graduated, which provided them with knowledge and skills that enabled them to prove their worth and efficiency in the numerous positions they held.
He added that the students' meeting with their graduate colleagues would expand their awareness of the importance of tourism and hotel specialties and the extent of the market's need for them, as well as access to leadership positions and achieving a good financial income in case the students are interested in developing their language, technical, and interactive communication skills.
During the meeting, in which a number of graduates of the college participated: Mr. Mohammed Al-Saghir (Specialty Outlet Manager) at Rotana Amman Hotel, Ms. Yara Al-Duwairi, (Director of Education and Training) at the Intercontinental Amman Hotel, and Mr. Adi Abu Abbas, (Director of Operation and Development) at the Four-star Fribon and Millennium Five-Star Hotels in Saudi Arabia, the participants stated that the distinguished reputation of Yarmouk University and the efficiency of its graduates were one of the most important reasons that caused employers to obtain a more considerable interest in attracting and employing them in these leadership positions.
The participants also stressed the importance of the specialization of tourism and hotels and its bright future and the extent of the need for it at the local, regional and global levels.
At the end of the meeting, which was attended by the Assistant Dean for Quality Control Affairs Dr. Fakhria Al-Darabsa, Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, Mr. Furat Al-Muhaisen, and Head of the Department of Tourism and Travel, Dr. Mohammed Abu Hajeila, the participants answered the students' questions and inquiries to further provide the students with paramount knowledge in the field.
