The Senate Tourism Committee Meets Students of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels in a Discussion Session
The Committee for Tourism and Heritage in the Senate, chaired by Senator Engineer Abdul Hakim Mahmoud Al-Hindi, during its visit to the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels at Yarmouk University, reviewed the reality of the college and its sub-specializations.
Al-Hindi, alongside Mohammed Al-Azaida, Khair Al-Din Hakoz, Talal Al-Madi, Maysoon Al-Atoum, and the President of the University, Dr. Islam Massad, spoke about the need to utilise the energies of the students, and employ their skills appropriately in order to qualify them to become competitive capabilities commensurate with the labor market inside and outside the Kingdom, stressing the importance of transforming the challenges of the tourism and hotel sector, which is one of the largest investment resources in the Kingdom into opportunities.
He referred to the support of His Majesty King Abdullah II and His Highness Prince Al Hussein Bin Abdullah II, Crown Prince of Youth, and encouraged the innovation and entrepreneurship in all fields and various sectors, noting that the vision of economic modernization translates into that support.
On his part, Massad, in the presence of his deputies Dr. Samer Samara, Dr. Musa Al-Rababa'a, and the Dean of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, Dr. Akram Al-Rawashdeh, pointed out that the meeting of the committee members with faculty and administrative staff members and students in the college in a joint dialogue session, aimed to exchange different points of view and build on them in enhancing the march and progress of the college.
He mentioned that the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels was established at the beginning of the academic year 2011-2012 as part of a vision aimed at providing qualified and specialized human resources that contribute to advancing economic development and promoting the quality of tourism services locally and regionally, pointing out that the college obtained the international quality certificate for higher education for tourism approved by the World Tourism Organization.
The committee listened to the observations and demands of the students, the most prominent of which is the increase in the number of training laboratories and the review of legislation and laws to contribute to motivating young people to enter the tourism sector.
In turn, the senators spoke about the importance of moving forward in developing the work of the college by raising the size of the applied field in order to develop students' skills and improve their capabilities, to provide the sector with qualified human resources.
