Community Advisory Committee Meeting at the College of Tourism and Hotels
A meeting took place yesterday, Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at the College of Tourism and Hotels, bringing together members of the academic and administrative staff alongside the college's advisory committee. This committee features prominent figures such as Dr. Mashael Khasawneh, Director of the Irbid Tourism Directorate; Mr. Marwan Nasirat, Director of the Royal Jordanian/Irbid Branch; Amal Abu Ashour from the Tourism and Travel Agency; Mr. Mamoun Al-Omari, Director of Al-Joud Hotel; and Mr. Muhammad Al-Sharman, Deputy and Director of Ma'in Hotel. The focus of the meeting was to address the knowledge, skills, and competencies that students need to thrive in the labor market.
Prof. Dr. Akram Rawashdeh, the Dean of the College of Tourism and Hotels, started the meeting by welcoming the participants and acknowledging their ongoing contributions to enhancing the educational experience for students, particularly in practical training. The attendees noted the impressive skill levels that students have achieved, which have made them attractive candidates for employment during their training periods. The Dean also shared plans for the inaugural Tourism and Hotels Forum, scheduled for early May 2025, which will examine how well the curriculum aligns with industry demands. All participants expressed their commitment to collaborating on this forum, ensuring it is well-prepared and effectively showcases its benefits for students and graduates. A preparatory committee was established, comprising all attendees, to oversee the forum's activities, which will span two days.
