Workshop on Plagiarism at the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels
On Wednesday, May 14, 2025, the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels hosted a specialized training workshop titled "Plagiarism and How to Combat It," delivered by trainers Mr.Sami Abu Darbieh and SuhaiL Khabour from the University Library. The event was attended by faculty members and students from both undergraduate and master's programs.
The workshop aimed to raise participants' awareness about the concept of plagiarism and its negative impact on the quality and ethics of academic research. The trainer provided a detailed presentation on the different forms of plagiarism and methods to avoid them, emphasizing the importance of academic integrity across all educational stages.
Attendees also received practical training on how to use the "TURNITIN" tool to detect unoriginal content in academic texts. The trainer explained how to effectively use the software as part of academic assessment processes.
The workshop featured interactive discussions and questions from the audience, particularly focusing on real-world cases of plagiarism and appropriate responses to them, which added depth to the learning experience.
At the conclusion of the session, participants were reminded of the importance of adhering to research ethics and enhancing academic writing skills to produce credible and reliable scholarly work.
