Yarmouk begins marketing astro-tourism in Petra and Jordan academically for the first time globally

Yarmouk University achieved an unprecedented academic achievement in the field of astrotourism, as Prof. Dr. Akram Al-Rawashdeh, Dean of the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality, attended the defense of the master's thesis submitted by student Rabab Al-Qudah, under the supervision of Dr. Salem Al-Harahsheh, which was entitled:

“Beyond the Siq: Exploring and Marketing the Potential of the Unique City of Petra as a Destination for Astronomical Tourism in Jordan.” 

Dr. Alharahsheh chaired the discussion committee, with Dr. Mohammad Badarneh as the internal discussant and Prof. Dr. Mamoun Allan from the University of Jordan as the external discussant 

The thesis sheds light on the astronomical and tourism components of the city of Petra, as well as the mechanisms of marketing it globally as a distinctive destination in this unique type of tourism.

The dissertation is the first of its kind in the world to deal with astronomical tourism in Petra, representing a remarkable academic achievement in the field of specialized tourism.

Prof. Al Rawashdeh, along with the members of the discussion committee, praised the researcher's outstanding efforts in preparing this thesis, stressing its importance in opening new horizons for scientific research and sustainable tourism promotion in Jordan.
