Yarmouk University Obtains International Accreditation Certificate for Quality in Tourism and Hospitality Education
For the third successive cycle, the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels at Yarmouk University has been awarded the International Accreditation Certificate for Quality in Tourism and Hospitality Education, "TedQual," from the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) for the period 2024-2027.
The President of Yarmouk University, Prof. Islam Massad, described this achievement as a culmination of the continuous efforts made by the Faculty to develop its curricula and academic plans in line with modern advancements in tourism and hospitality education. He praised the dedication of the Faculty's academic and administrative staff for their commitment to providing students with valuable learning experiences that enhance their theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Prof. Massad further highlighted that obtaining this prestigious international accreditation reflects Yarmouk University's devoted progress in accreditation and quality assurance in accordance with the highest academic standards. He noted that this achievement reinforces the University's distinguished status both locally and internationally. He also referenced the University's advancement in the QS World University Rankings by Subject, published in April of this year, where Yarmouk was ranked among the top 101-150 universities globally in the field of Tourism, Hospitality, and Leisure Management.
On his part, the Dean of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, Prof. Akram Rawashdeh, emphasized that this accreditation will enhance the competitiveness of the Faculty's graduates in national, regional, and international tourism and hospitality markets. He pointed out that the Faculty can now leverage the "TedQual" logo to promote its academic programs. Additionally, students will have access to free remote training opportunities in tourism and hospitality, offered by the TedQual Academy of the UNWTO.
Prof. Rawashdeh also emphasized the significance of this international accreditation in empowering students and faculty members to participate in international projects organized by the World Tourism Organization. This, in turn, builds the confidence of industry employers in the quality of the Faculty’s students and graduates. He also expressed his gratitude to the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Center at the University for its support and efforts in assisting the Faculty throughout the accreditation process.
It is noteworthy that Yarmouk University is one of only four Arab universities to have received this international accreditation for quality in tourism and hospitality education.
