The Language Center at Yarmouk University, in collaboration with the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, Organizes a Training Activity for Students of the Arabic Language Program for Non-Native Speakers in Preparing Traditional Jordanian Dishes and Sweets
The Language Center at Yarmouk University, in collaboration with the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, organized a training activity for students enrolled in the Arabic Language Program for Non-Native Speakers, focusing on the preparation and cooking of traditional Jordanian dishes and sweets.
The President of Yarmouk University, Prof. Islam Massad, emphasized the importance of such extracurricular and cultural activities organized by the Language Center for international students. He highlighted that these activities aim to introduce students to Jordanian traditional cuisine and promote it globally. He further explained that such initiatives reflect the University's commitment to supporting its international students across all its programs and faculties.
During his meeting with the students and his participation in the meal, Prof. Massad pointed out that these activities play a significant role in enhancing the integration of international students into Jordanian society. This fosters cultural exchange within the university campus and contributes to the promotion and dissemination of various global cultures. He described these students as ambassadors for both Jordan and Yarmouk University once they return to their home countries across different continents.
In the same context, the Director of the Language Center, Prof. Rana Kandeel, stated that this activity is part of the periodic cultural, recreational, sports, and tourism programs organized for students in the Arabic Language Program for Non-Native Speakers. She noted that these efforts align with the vision of the Jordanian state and Yarmouk University in promoting and spreading the Arabic language worldwide.
The dishes were prepared in the university's central kitchen under the supervision of faculty and chefs from the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, with participation from Hotel Management students supervised by Dr. Rejan Ubaidat and Ms. Maisoon Al-Waqfi.
The event was attended by Prof. Mousa Rababah, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Prof. Rami Malkawi, President Assistant, Prof. Akram Rawashdeh, Dean of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, along with faculty and administrative members from the Language Center and the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels.
