Faculty of Tourism and Hotels Organizes a Cooking Activity with International Students at Yarmouk University
The Faculty of Tourism and Hotels at Yarmouk University organized a cooking activity in collaboration with the Language Center, specifically targeting non-Arabic-speaking international students.
During the activity, the participating students prepared the traditional Jordanian dish Makmoura. The choice of the dish was based on the students' preferences, who came from various countries across Europe, North and South America, and East Asia.
The activity was supervised by Dr. Maysoun Al-Waqfi from the Language Center, coordinator for international students, and Dr. Omar Taha, Head of the Department of Hotel Management. The cooking session was led by Chef Khaled Al-Rifai and Mr. Yahya Al-Jarrah.
Throughout the activity, participants were introduced to the characteristics of Jordanian cuisine—particularly dishes from the northern region of the country, known for their traditional ingredients such as olive oil. After preparing the dish themselves, the students enjoyed the meal and expressed their delight with this unique cultural experience.
