Faculty of Tourism and Hotels Continues Its Efforts to Promote Tourism Awareness among School Students in Cooperation with Al-Muthanna Bin Haritha Secondary School

As part of Yarmouk University’s ongoing efforts to serve the local community and raise awareness about the importance of the tourism sector in Jordan, Mr. Zahir Khassawneh, Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels for Quality and Training Affairs, delivered an awareness lecture to students of the Travel and Tourism Department at Al-Muthanna Bin Haritha Secondary School for Boys.

The lecture focused on key themes related to the significance of the national tourism sector and its promising future prospects. It aimed to enhance students’ tourism awareness, introduce them to the vital role tourism plays in supporting the national economy, and motivate them to pursue higher education in tourism and travel specializations, particularly for students enrolled in the “BTEC” program, which offers valuable training and employment opportunities in the tourism labor market.

In his remarks, Prof. Dr. Saad Al-Sa’d, Dean of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between schools and universities to prepare students and familiarize them with modern academic disciplines and future career paths. He highlighted the significance of organizing such awareness workshops to deepen students’ understanding of tourism’s role in sustainable development and to encourage their engagement in this vital national sector.

At the conclusion of the event, Mr. Anas Malkawi and Mr. Hussein Saideen, representatives of the Travel and Tourism Department at Al-Muthanna Bin Haritha Secondary School, expressed their appreciation to the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels for this valuable initiative. They commended the faculty’s efforts in enriching students’ knowledge about the tourism sector and in raising awareness among the younger generation about the importance of tourism professions and their contribution to national development.

The students actively participated by asking questions and engaging in discussions that reflected their interest in the topic and the benefits they gained from the lecture, expressing their desire to learn more about tourism and travel programs at the academic and professional levels.
