Yarmouk University and Hyatt Regency Aqaba Sign Memorandum of Understanding to Train and Employ Tourism and Hotel Students
Yarmouk University has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding with Hyatt Regency Aqaba Ayla Resort aimed at developing intensive and practical training programs for students of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, professionally preparing them to enter the tourism and hospitality labor market and enhancing their skills in accordance with international standards.
The memorandum was signed on behalf of the university by the Dean of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, Prof. Dr. Saad Al-Saad, while Mr. Mohammad Al-Najjar, Operations Manager, signed on behalf of the hotel.
This memorandum reflects the university’s firm commitment to refining students’ practical and applied skills and bridging the gap between theoretical academic study and field training within leading hospitality institutions. Such efforts ensure the graduation of qualified professionals capable of meeting the growing needs of the tourism sector in Jordan and the wider region.
The memorandum also seeks to provide a comprehensive and integrated training environment for students enrolled in the Hospitality Management and Event Management programs, enabling them to acquire genuine practical experience across various hotel departments in accordance with the highest international standards practiced within the hospitality industry. Furthermore, it aims to strengthen their preparedness for future career paths through the development of direct guest communication skills and efficient management of daily hotel operations.
Professor Saad Al-Saad emphasized that signing this memorandum is fully aligned with the university’s strategy to build effective and productive partnerships with the private sector. He highlighted the significant importance of collaborating with a hotel of the stature and reputation of Hyatt Regency Aqaba Ayla Resort in providing high-quality training opportunities for students, thereby supporting the vision of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels to advance applied education and enhance graduates’ competitiveness at both the local and regional levels.
For his part, Mr. Mohammad Al-Najjar expressed Hyatt Regency Aqaba Ayla Resort’s pride in this distinguished partnership with a respected academic institution such as Yarmouk University. He affirmed the hotel’s full commitment to supporting and developing young talents and providing an ideal training environment that enables them to gain the practical experience necessary to excel in the hospitality sector. He also noted that this memorandum would play an effective role in supplying Jordan’s tourism industry with qualified and professional human resources.
The signing ceremony was attended on behalf of the university by Dr. Omar Taha, Head of the Hotel Management Department, and Mr. Mohammad Jaba’ateh, Training Supervisor at the faculty. Representing the hotel was Ms. Siba Ayoub, Head of the Learning and Development Department.
